Hole for heater box cut, starter motor bolted in place, more brackets fitted...
18th November - We had heater boxes made by a local Blacksmiths (The Iron Lady Bradwell Blacksmiths), who also made our diff covers. After double and triple checking my location and measurements I cut a hole in the body and slotted the box in place. It still requires holes cut for the hoses/air intake, and securely fixing in place, however I am pleased with the outcome so far...
21st November - Starter motor wrapped in heat protective tape and fitted in place using the supplied mounting bolts, torquing them to 38ft lbs.
29th November - Additional bracket added to the back of the fuel tank to go along with the doubling up of bolts on the side fixing points. Probably a bit overkill but thought it worth adding..
Hole cut in body where I am hoping the gearstick will come through. I will need to open the hole up prior to fitting the body however this should help with final hole location...
30th November - I used two rubber lined P Clips (back to back) to hold the power steering hoses in place. Not easy to get to, and impossible to drill a hole from underneath, so I ended up taking the header tank off, drilling a hole through one of the bolt holes then tapping in underneath for a 6mm bolt to go in. All took way longer than expected but another job done!
