Back to work on the Cobra after a few weeks break, plus first body fit!
After being away for a few weeks I was glad to get back to work on my Cobra. Following on from my previous post we had ordered a replacement Oil pressure T-Piece from Demon Tweeks so we could now utilise the Oil Pressure Warning Light Sensor from the Canems ECU Loom, and attach the Oil Pressure Sender Unit in the same place. Hopefully this will do the job.
I decided to fit the body to the chassis so I could get on with more jobs. Luckily my Dad and Alan were on hand to help me out. I was pleased with how the body went back on and I had even cut the hole in the correct place for the gear stick! I will however open this hole up a little more as it is a bit tight to the body when going through the gears.
Next up I noticed that the body on the passenger side was being pulled away from the chassis. This was due to the alternator touching the inner wheelarch and was expected as I had seen this issue on a few other blogs and more recently on one of Russ Howell's YouTube videos. I will look at resolving this fairly soon and will cover how I get on in a future blog.
I also found that I had installed my fuel regulator in the wrong place. Even though it doesn't interfere with the body it does with the heater box when this is in situ. After contemplating how best to solve this I think I will make up a new angled bracket so it clears the heater box. This will be my next job..
All in all a very successful day, and great to see the body on!
