Harness Supports / Fuel Filler Cap / Indicators & Stop Tail Lights

Over the last few days I have started on various jobs. I drilled and secured the top harness eye bolts on the passenger and drivers side. It took me a while to get this right and I was worried I was cutting the eye bolts down way too much, however both fit in nicely with the top of the bolt showing through the seatbelt anchors in the boot, but not too far that they are likely to damage the body. I had to add a few washers on  the drivers side to get the eye bolt pointing in the right direction and one on the passengers but all now good.

With regards to the seatbelt anchors/roll bar locations points in the boot area, I checked with AK around fixing these and they confirmed that a spring washer was sufficient as the bolt holes in the chassis had been drilled and tapped, so no nut required the other end. Unfortunately one of the threads wasn't particularly good therefore I have made the decision to use nyloc nuts underneath for my own peace of mind. I have ordered some more nylocs and will finish this off when they arrive.

I had to open up the holes a little bit more for the rollbar hoops to fit in and I still need to drill and temporarily fit the roll bar escutcheons so the holes are all in place prior to paint. At a later date I will fill the roll bar hoops with expanding foam, or something similar, to stop any noise. I will also bolt them to the fixing points in the boot to stop any movement.

I moved on to the Aston fuel filler cap and mounting flange. I hadn't yet purchased the braided fuel filler hose, breather pipe and steel wire hose clips, however I decided to make a start and fit the filler cap in place. Reasonably pleased with the positioning of the fuel filler cap, Russ Howell's recent YouTube video (series 2 episode 4) was a great help in getting this right! When opening the filler cap there is only a few mm clearance on the right hand corner of the hinge, I will ensure this is sorted prior to paint to allow a little more clearance.

I had decided to go for the smaller glass lens indicators and stop tail lights and spent some time trying to line these up, which was no easy feat. I will now temporarily fix these in place ready for wiring..

4th Feb - So I managed to get my son Thomas to help me fit the Nylocs to the seat belt anchors / roll bar locations as I needed the bolts kept tightly in place whilst screwing the Nylocs on.  All now done, and probably a bit over the top, but I wanted that extra piece of mind.....
