Quick Jacks

I really like the look of the Quick Jacks and prefer these to the bumpers and overriders. We purchased these from SandJ Motors along with lots of other brightwork and switches. It is only the Quick Jacks themselves that you receive therefore you need to purchase 8 acorn nuts (size 10), 10mm threaded rods, plus 15mm tubing to act as a sleeve around the rod. We purchased most of this from the local plumbers merchant. I fitted the rear Quick Jacks first. The brackets these fit to are already in place so it was a case of lining up where the Quick Jacks should be fitted and cutting holes in the bodywork and through the brackets. I allowed 25mm from the back of the bodywork to the rear of the quick jack, the same spacing I believe AK use when fitting them. I am always a little nervous when it comes to cutting holes in the bodywork, especially when they need to look aligned with each other, however I am pleased how these have turned out. Now on to the front ones...

For the front Quick Jacks the bracket these attach to are provided by AK but are not in place. After taking what seemed like an age to drill through the stainless steel cladding, I fitted the brackets and set about lining up the Quick Jacks. I have looked at lots of Cobras with Quick Jacks fitted and all seem to make their own decision on how far out these should be, especially on the front ones. I eventually went with what was aesthetically pleasing to me and below is what I have ended up with! The holes I made in the bodywork are larger than the ones in the rear as I found that the curvature of the body requires a little more space for the bars to exit. The top bar on each Quick Jack is very slightly resting on the bodywork where it exits, so I have a little bit of fettling to do to sort this out.

Pleased with how they look however I may resort to replacing the chrome on copper tubing with stainless steel. Another job ticked off the very long list...
