Fuel pressure test, Engine bay tidied up, Reverse/Fog light fitted
To ensure there we're no fuel pressure issues we decided to purchase a Fuel Pressure Gauge and check this via the fuel rail (schrader valve connection) on the engine. The fuel pressure regulator is set at 3.5bar which can't be altered as it's a fixed regulator, so when we performed the fuel pressure test it was a relief to see it was at 3.5bar. Good to have peace of mind that all is ok with the fuel pressure!
I then set about tidying the cables in the engine bay and cable tying these where necessary. We have also purchased some stainless steel sheeting which we can fix at the back of the engine bay to tidy it up and make all of the wiring less visible. This is now down as you can see below
Next I moved on to looking at the fuel gauge as it wasn't registering. I added additional fuel as I knew it was fairly low but the needle didn't move at all. It turned out to be another loose connection in the dash, luckily I could reach this without taking all of the dash apart. I now really hope this is the end of the dashboard wiring issues.. I hadn't quite finished there as the fuel gauge was definitely not reading correctly. I therefore removed the float in the tank and change the angle which did the trick.
We had decided on a different approach for the rear reverse/fog light and found this type on eBay. I made up some angled brackets to fix the light to one of the chassis members and then fed the cable through in to the boot area. Both the reverse and fog light are working a treat. I am actually really pleased with how this looks as it's fairly hidden away and unobtrusive.
