IVA Pass (1st time) 🥳
So the time had come for my Cobra's IVA test at Yeading (15th April). I felt I had done everything possible to pass however I was extremely apprehensive, in particular with regards to the emissions! The emissions had been checked at a local garage a number of times however the Lambda reading continued to read very high. Dave from Canems kindly dialled in and tweaked a few settings via the ECU and I also decided to use Holts Gun Gum Repair Bandages over each of the joins from the Cat to the J Pipe. One or the other did the trick as the emissions were fine. There were a few other items that came up, the first was in relation to the height of the fog/reverse light. I had changed the bracket for the IVA test in the hope it would be acceptable however it was still around 5mm too low. I had a solution to this this however the tester was happy in the end to let this go. There were also a few clips missing which were supposed to be holding the clutch line in place, I am not sure what had happened to these as I was positive these were on previously? The tester was happy for us to add a few cable ties to hold this in place. The brake testing took some time as he was initially convinced that the rear breaks were coming on before the front, however after a number of brake tests he was happy with the results. The offside headlamp was also out and again he was happy for us to alter this accordingly. At the end of the test I asked how it had gone and the tester, who was extremely nice and accommodating, said I had achieved 98% so far and that he now needed to work through some calculations to see if it was a pass. It seemed like an age a day waiting for him to do this, it was a good 30minutes anyway, however he eventually came back and advised us that my Cobra had passed. As you can imagine I was absolutely over the moon! What a relief after spending the best part of 20 months building my Cobra.. Now it's time to help Alan and my Dad to get theirs finished and passed!
My Cobra is now off to AK to get a soft top and tonneau cover fitted.
