The first of the 3 LS3 Engine's in!

Today we set about installing Dad's engine. We had already removed the headers and installed the engine and gearbox mounts and placed the bobbins on the chassis ready for engine install. We wheeled my chassis out of the garage and both of the bodies to allow for some additional manoeuvrability with the engine hoist. Dani at AK kindly made us engine hoist brackets so we attached these to the engine and got the hoist in situ. It took some time to get the engine/gearbox in the right place, only to realise the ignition coils/modules needed to be removed to stop them from fowling on the chassis. The AK Gen3 model certainly makes it a bit more tight to get the engine in!  We finally got the engine in and bolted to the chassis however we came across a problem with the gearbox bracket mount. The bracket holes for the gearbox bobbins were in the correct place, however the end holes to fix the bracket to the chassis were in the wrong place, and not lining up with the chassis. After discussing this with Neil at AK he suggested they make up new brackets and ship them to us, three are now on the way....

All in all a rather successful day...
