After completing Leg1 of the AK Loom I moved on to Leg4 - 'connections to nearside front'. I ran the cables through the holes in the back of the wheel arch and worked my way through each of the various runs. Within Leg4 you have the wiring for the front passenger side headlight, the indicator, earth, repeater indicators and radiator fan thermostat.
We had purchased some waterproof electrical connectors which we had decided to use to give that more professional look. I started off wiring the headlight which required a 4 pin connector however I had so many problems pushing the two centre cables in to the connector. The two outer ones went in fine but I couldn't push the two centre ones in far enough! I spent ages trying new connectors etc but I eventually gave up and resorted to using 2 x 2 pin connectors which worked fine. I am not sure if the others had a fault or whether I was just doing something wrong?? As mentioned previously I am soldering the ends of all wires/connectors to ensure I have the best possible connection. I finished the headlamp cable off with some split conduit for added protection.
I moved on to the indicator, again using a 2 pin connector and soldering the wires on each end. I added conduit and then cable tied this to the headlamp cable to ensure its kept tight and out of the way
I added the earth strap on one of the chassis bolts. I scraped off the powder coating on the inside to ensure of a good earth point.
I moved on to the repeater indicator (note: black from repeater indicator to brown earth from AK loom / white from repeater indicator to green/red from AK loom)

The final part on this leg was to run the wiring for the radiator thermostat. I drilled a hole through to the engine bay then set about working out which cable was which on the fan. I connected the fan up to a small battery to ensure I had the fan running the correct way i.e. pulling the air through the radiator (my fan is on the inside of the engine bay). One of the wires from the AK Loom, the black wire, is not used (due to us using the Canems E38 ECU) so I folded this back on itself covered it with some heat shrink and tucked it back inside the conduit. I then moved on to the brown cable from the AK Loom which needed to be connected to the blue wire from the fan. I started off using a single plastic connector to connect these however after numerous attempts I gave up. As with the 4 pin connectors one of the wires was not clipping in correctly so I resorted to using I different style connector (spade type connector). I soldered each wire then placed heat shrink over the top before feeding them back inside the conduit. I then moved on to wiring up the the inline fuse (green/black wire from the AK Loom and Black wire from the fan). I had two attempts at this as I didn't realise I had to run the cables through the fuse housing prior to connecting the spade type connectors! I soldered each wire and then added the fuse. I then fitted the fuse housing in the engine bay. We had bought different fuse holders to that supplied by AK as we didn't want to just cable tie them in place. It wasn't going to be my day today as whilst fitting the inline fuse in place the screw snapped! I spent ages drilling this out before finally fitting it in place! I was certainly ready for a large drink after todays exploits...

The above photo shows where I drilled through to the engine bay and fed the fan cabling through.
That's Leg4 now complete Leg2 - 'connections offside front' is next
