Exhausts started….

Today I made a start temporarily fitting the exhausts, well one anyway! I decided to drill a hole in the exhaust brackets so I could drill and tap in to the chassis. Later these brackets will also be welded in place however I thought doing it this way will give me more chance of getting everything in place and lined up correctly. I started with the passenger side exhaust. I fixed in place the Header and J Pipe, again these are on temporarily as they will need to come off again when fitting the body, and then lined up the exhaust ensuring I had the correct clearance (AK advise there should be 85mm between the chassis and the inside of the exhaust pipe) and that it was straight. I bolted the exhaust to the chassis and I’m pleased with how it looks. Hopefully it won’t be too difficult lining it up to the body and cutting a hole in the correct place 🤞!

I moved on to the drivers side but struggled to get the exhaust in the correct place. This side appeared to be exiting further forward but after a long chat with Jon at AK it appears this is the case due to the position of the headers on the Corvette LS3 engine. The difference will not be particularly noticeable and I was more concerned I was doing something wrong! I will get on with fitting this side when I next have some time spare…
